IN JUST A FEW HOURS...
The Springfield Falcons continue their road trip when they take on the Norfolk Admirals at 7:30 p.m. at the Norfolk Scope. The Falcons had their three-game winning streak and seven game points streak come to an end on Wednesday night, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza as Springfield fell in regulation for just the second time in 12 games in 2012-2013. Despite the loss, Springfield is in sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference with 18 points entering Friday's action.
Fans can listen to "Voice of the Falcons" Mike Kelly call tonight's game on WHYN NewsTalk 560 AM, on WHYN.com, and through the iHeartRadio App, with coverage beginning at 7:15 p.m.
After battling the Admirals again on Saturday, Springfield concludes its away stretch in Portland on Friday, Nov. 23 when it meets the Pirates.
The Falcons return home for "Movember Night presented by Baystate Health" on Saturday, Nov. 24 against the Manchester Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. The first 1,000 fans into the building that night will receive mustaches as part of an effort to generate awareness of prostate cancer and other male illnesses.
Single-game tickets to see the Falcons in 2012-2013 can be purchased at the MassMutual Center Box Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. through game time on Saturday home dates, and starting four hours prior to Sunday home contests. DEFENSE, GOALTENDING STAY STRONG
The Falcons allowed two opposing tallies in Wednesday's defeat, the 11th time in 12 games this season that Springfield relinquished fewer than three goals in regulation. Springfield enters tonight's game second in the AHL with a team goals-against average of 1.58. Curtis McElhinney remains in first place in the league with eight wins (tied with Rochester's David Leggio) and four shutouts. He is second with a .954 save percentage and a 1.36 goals-against average.
KUBALIK CHIPS IN
Tomas Kubalik's redirect of Nick Holden's shot late in the third period extended Springfield's streak to 28 games with at least a goal dating back to last season. Kubalil's tally was his fourth of the season, including his third in which he was positioned at the top of the crease.
EARLY RISERS
The Falcons maintain a 17-3 goals advantage in the first period. Springfield had scored first in 10-straight games prior to Beau Bennett's second-period strike on Wednesday. The Falcons have not allowed an opponent to score in the first period since Boyd Kane posted a goal on Nov. 2 (four games).
