Texas Stars News Release

CEDAR PARK, TX - The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today the final numbers from their Stars & Stripes Military Appreciation Weekend, including a new record high of donations for the Stars Foundation Jersey Auction.

The Stars Foundation had 1,700 tickets sponsored for the two weekend games, approximately 200 tickets higher than the original projections, and they were all given out to local soldiers, veterans and their families. The Foundation set a new jersey auction donation record by collecting $31,175.00 for the Stars & Stripes Jersey silent auction. The Stars & Stripes Mystery Puck feature at the Foundation concourse table at Cedar Park Center brought just over $3,000 in additional donations.

"On behalf of the entire Texas Stars organization I would like to sincerely thank all of our fans and corporate partners for their tremendous support of our Stars & Stripes Military Appreciation Weekend," said Texas Stars president and Texas Stars Foundation chairman of the board Rick McLaughlin. "The Texas Stars feel privileged to be able to honor the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces. The incredible generosity shown by everyone last weekend will allow for the continued growth and wider reach of the Foundation's grants in our community."

In addition to the great charitable work from the Stars Foundation, the 752nd Explosive Ordinance Company from Fort Hood was a big hit at Cedar Park Center last Saturday. Fans were treated to a fantastic concourse display, a unique ceremonial puck drop featuring one of the EOD Robots and the very popular first intermission bomb suit race on the ice.

The Texas Stars are back in action on Saturday, November 17th as they host the Charlotte Checkers at 7:00 pm for the Stars 4th Annual Teddy Bear Toss Night at Cedar Park Center. Saturday is also Stars Knit Cap giveaway night presented by Austin Telco Federal Credit Union. Bring a new teddy bear or stuffed animal to the game and throw it on the ice when the Stars score their first goal. All bears collected will be donated to Operation Blue Santa and the Chuy's Children Giving to Children Parade. Fans who bring a stuffed animal to the game for the Teddy Bear Toss will also receive a voucher for one free ticket to the Wednesday, December 19th home game against San Antonio. Pro-rated full and partial 2012-13 season seat packages are on sale now. For more information on Texas Stars season tickets call (512) GO-STARS (467-8277) or visit www.TexasStarsHockey.com.
