NORFOLK - Nate Guenin had a goal and an assist, but the Norfolk Admirals (7-6-0-0) lost to the Springfield Falcons (9-2-0-2), 3-2, on Friday night in their return to Norfolk Scope Arena following a four-game road trip. The same two teams meet tomorrow night at Scope.

Patrick Maroon also scored for the Admirals, who received a 28-save effort from goaltender Frederik Andersen (4-3-0).

The contest began well for Norfolk, as Maroon gave the home team a 1-0 lead just 38 seconds into the game. Just under four minutes later, Sean Collins knotted the game at 1-1 for the Falcons at 4:32. But the Admirals took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission after Guenin's first goal of the season, which came on the power play at 15:17.

The Falcons used a pair of second period special teams goals from Cam Atkinson to go ahead in the contest. Atkinson scored on the power play at 10:54 to tie the game at 2-2. He then put the visitors ahead for good with a shorthanded goal at 15:22.

Despite out-shooting Springfield, 20-10, in the final frame, the Admirals were unable to get the equalizer past Falcons goaltender Curtis McElhinney, who stopped 36 of 38 shots in the match for the win.

Norfolk was 1-for-9 on the power play. Springfield was 1-for-6.

Tomorrow night's rematch between the Admirals and Falcons begins at 7:15 p.m. at Scope.
