Hamilton Bulldogs News Release


The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will compete in three match-ups this week. The 'Dogs return home to Copps Coliseum for Tuesday's game against the San Antonio Rampage (AHL affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes) at 7:30 p.m. Hamilton will then head to Manitoba for the weekend to face off against the Manitoba Moose (AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks) on Friday, March 20th at 8:30 p.m. EST, as well as 3:00 p.m. EST, on Sunday, March 22nd at the MTS Centre.

The Bulldogs went 2-2-0-0 on the road this past week, bringing their record to 43-26-3-0. The 'Dogs defeated the Iowa Chops 5-2 at Wells Fargo Arena on Tuesday, March 17th. On Friday, March 20th, Hamilton fell short in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Quad city Flames at I Wireless Center. The Bulldogs bit back on Saturday, March 21st with a 3-2 shootout win over the Chicago Wolves at Allstate Arena. Wrapping up the week, the 'Dogs dropped a 3-2 decision to the Milwaukee Admirals on Sunday, March 22nd at the Bradley Center.

- Friday, March 20th the Dallas Stars announced that forward Tyler Shelast has been reassigned from the Hamilton Bulldogs to the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL

- Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced Sunday, March 22nd that forward Sergei Kostitsyn has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs to the Canadiens

- Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced on Monday, March 23rd that forward Max Pacioretty has been reassigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs from Montreal

- RW Mike Glumac ended his six-game goal-scoring streak, and point streak where he posted 10 points (eight goals, two assists) and 17 game road point streak on Friday.

ALUMNI WATCH:

There are currently over 40 former Bulldogs in the NHL at this time. Over 60 percent of the players on Hamilton's all-time roster have played in a minimum of one NHL game. Three former Bulldogs head or assistant coaches (Doug Jarvis, Claude Julien, and Geoff Ward) are currently in a coaching capacity in the NHL. Here are a few highlights and accomplishments of ex-'Dogs from this past week:

- Boston RW Michael Ryder earned three points last week with a helper in a 3-2 overtime loss to Los Angeles (Mar. 19), and a goal and an assist in a 4-1 victory over New Jersey (Mar. 22)

- Toronto C Mikhail Grabovski recorded the only goal in a 3-1 losing effort to Florida (Mar. 19), and a scored a goal and three assists in the 5-2 win over Montreal (Mar. 21)

- Montreal C Maxim Lapierre added four points this past week, potting a goal in a 4-3 shootout loss to New York (Mar. 17), an assist in a 5-4 loss to Ottawa (Mar. 19), and both markers in the 5-2 loss to Toronto (Mar. 21)

- Dallas C Steve Ott earned a goal in a 4-2 defeat to Vancouver (Mar. 17), and added an assist in a 5-2 loss to San Jose (Mar. 21)

Fans can listen to every 'Dogs game this season on the flagship station of the Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Network, 'TALK 820'. All regular-season radio and online broadcasts will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to each scheduled game-time. Ellery Award-winning broadcaster Derek Wills calls the play-by-play of all 80 regular season games, while Al Craig provides the colour commentary for all home games and select road games.

In addition Cable 14 will air live broadcasts 12 of club's 39 home games at Copps Coliseum. In a joint venture with Mohawk College, Cable 14 will also broadcast the 27 Hamilton Bulldogs' home games not being shown live in their entirety as 'Dogs-in-an-Hour at 11:00 p.m. on the night of the game.

Cable 14 will also carry Rogers Television's live coverage of five Hamilton Bulldogs versus Toronto Marlies games at Ricoh Coliseum.

BULLDOUGS FOUNDATION: Brock Trotter was named as the Community Player of the Month for February. Throughout February, Brock took part in various promotions on behalf of The Bulldogs Foundation. He showed his dedication to the community not only during February, but also throughout the entire season visiting various schools and hospitals.

Ryan White and Brock Trotter visited the Meadowlands LCBO for a PMA/Appletons Jamaica Rum promotion on Saturday, February 7th. Cedrick Desjardins and David Desharnais visited the Millcroft LCBO for a PMA/Appletons Jamaica Rum promotion on Saturday, February 7th.
