Devils' Frazee named Reebok/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Lowell Devils goaltender Jeff Frazee has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 22, 2009. In three games, Frazee turned aside 114 of 116 shots for a 0.67 goals-against average and a .983 save percentage.

Frazee made 28 saves in a 1-0 loss at Hartford on Wednesday night, then followed up with a 43-save effort against the league's top-ranked offense in Lowell's 2-1 win over Hershey on Friday. Frazee finished with weekend with his third shutout of the season, stopping 43 more shots to lead the Devils to a 3-0 win over Worcester.

In recognition of his achievement, Frazee will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Devils home game.

A second-round draft choice by New Jersey (38th overall) in 2005, Frazee has a record of 25-17-5 with a 2.60 GAA and a .922 save percentage in 49 appearances for Lowell this season, leading all AHL rookies in wins and ranking among the overall leaders in wins (tied for fifth), minutes played (fourth), saves (second) and save percentage (tied for fifth). The 21-year-old native of Edina, Minn., represented the Devils at the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications.

Other nominees for Reebok/AHL Player of the Week include Albany goaltender Justin Peters, Binghamton center Peter Regin, Bridgeport goaltender Nathan Lawson, Chicago right wing Spencer Machacek, Grand Rapids left wing Ville Leino, Hamilton right wing Mike Glumac, Hartford goaltender Miika Wiikman, Iowa goaltender David LeNeveu, Lake Erie center Philippe Dupuis, Manitoba center Jason Krog, Milwaukee center Mike Santorelli, Norfolk left wing Justin Keller, Philadelphia right wing Rob Sirianni, Portland defenseman Mike Kostka, Quad City right wing Carsen Germyn, Rochester defenseman Michael Caruso, Rockford defenseman Tim Hambly, San Antonio center Joel Perrault and Syracuse left wing Alexandre Picard.
