Moose release Josh Soares from PTO

The Manitoba Moose announced today they have released forward Josh Soares from his professional tryout contract.

Soares, 27, played in 15 games with the Moose since signing his professional tryout agreement on Feb. 1/09. He scored his first goal as a Moose in his first game Feb. 2/09 vs. Lake Erie. In fact, the Hamilton, ON native collected at least one point in each of his first three games with Manitoba. He collected seven points in total (1-6-7) and 10 penalty minutes.

Soares had already played in 27 games so far this season with the Peoria Rivermen of the AHL, where he had scored 15 points (8-7-15) and 20 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 11 games this season with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL, scoring 19 points (10-9-19) and six penalty minutes. Soares has appeared in 50 career games in the AHL in three seasons where he's scored 26 points (11-15-26) and 30 penalty minutes with Peoria and Manitoba.
