Houston Aeros News Release

THIS WEEK'S GAMES

The Houston Aeros came out of the weekend with back-to-back wins to extend the team's streak to three games and add to their lead for second place in the West Division standings. Houston (35-25-1-8) will play four games against the division this week, including one home contest on Friday against the Rockford IceHogs.

Before Rockford comes to town the Aeros will visit division-leading Milwaukee on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Houston holds a 2-1-1-1 record against the Admirals this season as the teams enter the last meeting of the regular season. All road games can be heard on 1070-AM KNTH as Joe O'Donnell calls the game or viewed on AHL LIVE.

The team returns home Friday against Rockford to start a weekend three-in-three. The teams, who meet up again Sunday in Rockford, will drop the puck on the Aeros' "Lyme Night" to help raise awareness of Lyme Disease. Fans are encouraged to wear lime green shirts to show their support. Goaltender Nolan Schaefer is auctioning his mask online to support Texas Lyme Disease Association. Click here to start bidding.

Houston flies off to Peoria on Saturday to face the Rivermen on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The Rivermen are currently ranked third in the division after falling to the Aeros in both games over this past weekend. Peoria trails the Aeros by only three points in the divisional standings but Rockford and Chicago are behind them by only two points so every game matters over the last three weeks of the regular season.

WEEK IN REVIEW

Houston hosted the Rivermen in a pair of games Saturday and Sunday this past weekend, winning both. Sunday's game was decided in a shootout allowing one extra point in the division but extended Houston's lead for second place.

The Aeros auctioned their "Jerseys Off Their Backs" in support of Houston Aeros Charities after they defeated the Peoria Rivermen 2-1 at Toyota Center Saturday night in front of 5,974 fans. Houston scored two unanswered goals, by Matt Beaudoin and Jason Ryznar for the win to move the team back into sole possession of second place in the West Division.

Houston earned a 4-3 shootout win over the Peoria Rivermen Sunday night at Toyota Center. Corey Locke led the way with two regulation goals and netted a pair during the shootout. Aeros' netminder Nolan Schaefer (pictured) (25-16-5) stopped 19 of 22 shots during regulation and blocked four of eight during the shootout, improving his shootout record to 5-5 this season.

Player of the Week

Corey Locke recorded two goals and an assist in the Aeros back-to-back wins this past weekend. His two goals came in Sunday's 4-3 shootout win where he also went two-for-two in the shootout and plus-1 on the night. He finished plus-2 between the games and has now extended his point streak to personal-best nine games with 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) in that span. The nine-game streak is the longest current streak in the AHL and the longest Houston has seen this season.
