
Hagerstown Builds Early Lead in 7-4 Win over Legends

The Hagerstown Suns built a five-run lead after three innings and went on to a 7-4 win over the Lexington Legends Sunday afternoon in Hagerstown, Maryland.
The Suns scored a run in the second inning on walks to Raudy Read and Matthew Page, a single by Bryan Mejia that loaded the bases, and a sacrifice fly by Jeff Gardner.
Hagerstown added four runs in the third. Andrew Stevenson led off with a single, stole second, moved to third on a throwing error by catcher Chad Johnson, and scored on a double by Jose Marmolejos. Marmolejos advanced to third on a wild pitch and came home on a double by Read. After Page flied out, Read moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on D.K. Carey's sacrifice fly for a 5-0 lead.
The Legends got a run in the fourth when Austin Bailey doubled, moved to third on Johnson's single and scored on a passed ball.
Bryan Mejia's two-run double in the fifth gave the Suns a 7-1 lead.
The Legends cut the lead in half with three runs in the seventh inning. Anderson Miller led off with a double, and with one out, Chase Vallot and Samir Duenez walked, loading the bases. Michael Hill's single brought home two runs, and Duenez scored the game's final run when Luis Valenzuela grounded out.
Suns starter Luis Reyes (6-7) got the win. He allowed two hits and one run in six innings. Ryan Brinley worked the final one and one-third innings for his first save.
Lexington starter Yunior Marte (4-3) was the losing the pitcher.
The win gave Hagerstown a split of the four-game series.
After an off day Monday, the Legends will open a four-game series against Rome Tuesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
