SALISBURY, Md. -- The Delmarva Shorebirds split their series with the Greenville Drive with a 4-0 loss on Sunday evening. Greenville scored four runs in the fifth and stymied Delmarva for a shutout in the series finale.

The Shorebirds had the better chances to score in the early frames, but Delmarva failed to capitalize against Drive starter Luis Ramos. The Shorebirds moved a runner into scoring position in three of the first four innings, yet came away without a run.

Greenville converted their only scoring opportunity in the fifth inning. Joseph Monge punched a double down the right field line. With two outs, David Sopilka dribbled a roller to the hole at shortstop, the perfect spot for an RBI infield single. After a single by Bryan Hudson, Michael Chavis sent a shallow fly ball to left field, but the ball hit off Riley Palmer's glove for an error to extend the rally. Danny Mars lined a two-run single for a 4-0 lead for Greenville.

Josh Walker settled for a tough-luck loss as three of his four runs allowed were unearned. Walker surrendered just five hits while going seven innings in the start, matching his career-long outing. Tanner Chleborad retired all six batters he faced to finish the game for Delmarva.

Delmarva managed just one baserunner after a leadoff single in the fifth inning. Between Luis Ramos and Jamie Callahan, Greenville allowed just six singles and one walk in the shutout. Ramos improved to 2-3 with the victory, and Callahan picked up his third save.

The Shorebirds will have an off day on Monday to travel down to Kannapolis, N.C. Delmarva begins a four-game series against the Kannapolis Intimidators on Tuesday with right-hander Dariel Delgado (5-3, 3.51) on the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Intimidators Stadium.
