
Leonards Promoted to AA Birmingham

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 23, 2015) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have promoted infielder Ryan Leonards to the AA Birmingham Barons on Sunday. There is no corresponding move at this time.
Leonards, 24, hit .272 (77-283) with 16 doubles, a triple, two home runs, 26 RBI, 12 stolen bases, and 37 runs scored in 83 games with Kannapolis in 2015. He has posted a .362 on-base percentage since joining the Intimidators from Extended Spring Training on May 7. The White Sox selected Leonards in the 21st round of the June 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. He made his professional debut last season between Advanced Rookie Great Falls and Kannapolis, batting .256 (51-199) with seven doubles, three triples, two home runs, and 18 RBI in 57 games.
Leonards is the 21st member of the Intimidators to earn a promotion about Class A in 2015. This is his first promotion to AA Birmingham. He fills the roster spot of 2011-12 Intimidators outfielder Keenyn Walker, who was placed on the Disabled List.
The Intimidators are currently playing their 21st season of professional baseball in Kannapolis and 15th season as a Chicago White Sox affiliate. Since the team's inception in 1995, a total of 85 players have gone from Kannapolis to the Major Leagues.
