
Guzman, Bernard, Crawford Under Contract

Montreal, Feb. 18, 2011 - The Montreal Alouettes' vice president and general manager, Jim Popp, is pleased to announce that the team has retained the services of import linebacker Ramon Guzman and has signed two free agents, import running back Yvenson Bernard and Canadian free safety Tad Crawford.
Guzman (6'2'', 232 lbs.), signed a three-year deal with the Alouettes. He enjoyed his best season in 2010, recording 27 defensive tackles and 2 sacks in 17 starts. He also registered one interception that he ran back 43 yards for a touchdown. A versatile player, Guzman also made 7 special team tackles, broke up 5 passes and forced 3 fumbles.
"Ramon solidified himself as a starter last season. He has become a leader and can play many rolls for our football team. He can blitz off the edge, drop into coverage, play off the hash, cover man to man and play both the inside and outside linebacker position," said Popp.
Bernard (5'9", 200 lbs.), 26, spent the last two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after stints in St. Louis and Seattle in the NFL. He signed a two-year deal.
"Yvenson was looking for an opportunity and Montreal was a good fit. He brings a package of quickness, speed, and power into the mix. He is an exciting football player," added Popp.
Crawford (6'3'', 195 lbs.), spent four seasons with the B.C. Lions after being selected in the third round, 17th overall, in the 2007 CFL Canadian Draft. In 69 career games, he made 81 defensive tackles, 39 special teams tackles and 3 interceptions. He also signed a two-year deal, he is 26.
"Tad gained valuable starting experience last year. He can help the Alouettes and has his best years ahead of him," declared Popp.
