Teams Gear-Up for All-Important CFL Evaluation Camp

Toronto, ON - (February 17, 2011) -One of the most important off-season events for teams across the Canadian Football League is being held in Toronto in just a few weeks.
The2011 CFL Evaluation Camp presented by Reebok will host more than 50 of Canada's top football prospects eligible for the upcoming draft. The three-day event from March 4-6 is an opportunity for general managers, coaches and scouts to test, interview and evaluate prospects who they may select in the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft on Sunday, May 8.
"This is an enormously important weekend for these talented prospects and we wish them luck in making the most of this rare opportunity," said CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon. "It's an equally significant event for all of us in the CFL. Our teams are only as strong as their Canadian talent, and a CFL franchise is only as strong as the connection between its fans and their fellow Canadians on the field."
This year's camp features 11 of the top 15 Canadian prospects as identified by the CFL's Central Scouting Bureau including third ranked Anthony Parker, a slotback from the University Calgary, and Matt O'Donnell, a 6'10", 340 pound offensive lineman from Queen's University. Both Parker and O'Donnell recently participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl in Orlando, Florida. Three of the other ranked prospects who are not participating are "red shirt" juniors in the NCAA who have another year of college football eligibility, and Vaughn Martin is currently playing with the San Diego Chargers.
Also participating at this year's scouting combine are two quarterbacks, Marc Mueller (Regina) and Bradley Sinopoli (Ottawa), both of whom are eligible for this year's draft. Last year, Erik Glavic from the University of Calgary, 2009 Vanier Cup Champion quarterback Danny Brannagan from Queen's and University of Guelph QB Justin Dunk all participated at the Evaluation Camp. Brannagan was later signed by the Toronto Argonauts.
The 2011 CFL Evaluation Camp presented by Reebok kicks off Friday afternoon with player arrivals and team interviews. On Saturday the players' strength and flexibility will be tested at the Park Hyatt Toronto Hotel. The camp finishes on the football field at Varsity Centre at the University of Toronto on Sunday.
