The Gulls and Falcons have met six times this season with San Diego holding a 4-2-0 series edge. The two teams will clash three more times in the regular season.

San Diego owns the all-time series match-up, posting a 67-28-6 record against its Pacific Division rival.

LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING: MARCH 12:

Greg Barber scored his first career hat trick and added an assist, while Mark Pederson added a goal and three assists, leading the Gulls to a 4-1 victory over the Falcons. Sylvain Deschatelets, the other forward on San Diego's top line, finished with two assists. The Gulls jumped out to a 1-0 lead 7:15 into the first period on Barber's first goal of the game. They made it 2-0 midway through the second on a power-play goal by Pederson. Fresno cut the lead in half 7:15 into the third before Barber answered with his second of the game minutes later. The San Diego rookie sealed the win with an empty-netter and hat trick tally late in the final stanza.

GULLS UPDATE:

The Gulls (38-12-10) enter the day first in the Pacific Division, six points ahead of the second-place Las Vegas Wranglers... They are four points behind the Louisiana IceGators for the top spot in the Western Conference. San Diego, however, has played two fewer games than Louisiana... The Gulls hold the third-best overall record in the ECHL, trailing only Louisiana and the Wheeling Nailers, who have a league-high 97 points... San Diego is 24-5-1 at the Sports Arena this season and are 15-1-1 in its last 17 games on home ice...

OTHER NOTES:

San Diego is 34-9-5 against Pacific Division teams, which includes a 22-2-0 mark at home... The Gulls finished the regular season 4-3-5 against non-Pacific Division teams. Their remaining 12 games are against the Pacific Division... The Blue and Orange have lost in regulation only twice in their last 26 games (17-2-7) and five times in their last 42 games (29-5-8)... San Diego has gone to overtime in five of its last six games and 10 of its last 19... The Gulls and Florida Everblades are tied for the most overtime/shootout losses in the ECHL with 10 apiece... Out of San Diego's 60 games this season, 33 have been one-goal games. The Gulls are 19-4-10 in one goal affairs (1-5 in overtime and 6-5 in shootouts)... The Blue and Orange are 29 for 39 on the penalty kill during the last nine games (74.4 percent)... Trevor Koenig is tied for third in the ECHL with 27 wins and is fifth with a 2.24 goals-against average. He is unbeaten in 18 of his last 19 games with San Diego (12-1-6)...

POINTS STILL COMING IN BUNCHES:

Deschatelets now has a career-high 65 points, 53 of which have come in his last 35 games (14g, 39a). His previous career high in points was 63, which he set last season... Pederson leads the league with 39 goals and has 50 points (28g, 22a) in his last 34 games. Pederson has scored a point in 19 straight home games, which is the ECHL season high... Barber has 45 points (18g, 27a) in his last 30 games and leads all ECHL rookies with 66 points overall... Tibbetts has 16 points (6g, 10a) in his last nine games...

FRESNO UPDATE:

The Falcons (18-36-6) enter the day last in the Pacific Division with 42 points, four behind the sixth-place Long Beach Ice Dogs... They are 8-21-1 on the road this season... Kris Porter leads the club with 42 points (15g, 27a). He is tied with linemates Jason Weaver and Brain Passmore for the team lead in goals (15)... Kevin Truelson has the game-winning goal in each of the Falcons' two wins against San Diego this season... Truelson and fellow blue-liner Tapio Sammalkangas are both a +5 against the Gulls this season...

TRANSACTIONS:

Left-winger Brian Gornick and defenseman Andy Reierson were both assigned by the American Hockey League's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks yesterday... Goaltender Colin Zulianello was placed on the seven-day injured list on Wednesday and was replaced by emergency back-up Mike Buckley... Koenig returned from Cincinnati on Tuesday, while goaltender Eddy Ferhi was sent back to the Mighty Ducks the same day... Trent Clark was released on Monday... Dennis Purdie (shoulder) and Kevin (Grant) remain on the injured list... Josh Gratton remains in Cincinnati...
