GARY, Ind. - Thanks in large part to a five-homer road trip, Gary SouthShore RailCats outfielder Cristian Guerrero has been named American Association Batter of the Week by Pointstreak.com for the week ending July 3rd.

Guerrero, 30, is the all-time single-season and career home run leader for the RailCats and becomes the first member of Northwest Indiana's premier professional sports franchise to take home a weekly award in the American Association. The Dominican slugger posted a .478 batting average in six games belting four homers in addition to 16 RBI, 11 hits and six runs scored. Guerrero also earned a .586 on-base percentage and a 1.130 slugging percentage.

The two games that sealed the award for the Delaware resident both came against the Lincoln Saltdogs. On June 27, Guerrero belted three homers against the Saltdogs adding a walk and five RBI. Three days later Guerrero collected another three hits en route to a record-setting six RBI performance. This is the second such award for Guerrero in a RailCats uniform as the power-hitter was named Northern League Player of the Week last season (June 13, 2010).
