WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Nick Basto hit a go ahead three-run home run in the fourth and the Dash never looked back as starter Jordan Guerrero cruised through eight one run innings as Winston-Salem defeated the Mudacts 4-1 at BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem on Friday night.

The Dash (63-60, 33-23) moved to 3.5 games ahead of the Mudcats (64-59, 30-24) in the second half standings with the victory. It also halted Carolina's win streak at four straight games.

Guerrero (W, 6-3, 3.60) worked through eight full innings and allowed just one run and four hits. He struck out four and walked one while picking up the series opening win.

Carolina led first in the game after getting a run in the second against Guerrero and the Dash. Jacob Schrader led off the second with a walk and scored two pitches later when Joseph Odom hit a RBI double to right. The run put the Mudcats up 1-0 and was Odom's 15th of the season. It was also his 23rd extra-base hit out of 41 total hits on the season.

The 1-0 lead lasted only through the third and disappeared on one swing when Basto launched his home run to left. Walters walked Jake Peter and allowed a one out infield single to Keon Barnmum in the fourth before giving up three home run. The game changing home run came on a 1-2 pitch and was Basto's fifth of the season.

The Mudcats stranded only five on base in the loss and managed to get a runner to second just three times against Guerrero. Guerrero retired eight straight to finish his outing and left three men on base.

Michael Ynoa (S, 1) pitched a scoreless ninth while earning the save. He allowed back-to-back singles to Keith Curcio and Dustin Peterson to star the final frame, but then retired three straight to finish the game.

Andy Otero pitched the seventh and eighth for the Mudcats and kept the Dash scoreless while yielding just one hit. Richie Tate pitched the ninth and was able to keep the Dash without a run while giving up two hits.
