Gudiño, Bart lift River Cats to season-high 4th straight victory

West Sacramento, Calif. - The Sacramento River Cats (35-45) won their season-high fourth straight on Friday, downing the El Paso Chihuahuas (32-46) with three RBI extra-base hits and an excellent performance by Norwith Gudiño (2-0).
In his first start since Aug. of 2019, the 25-year-old Gudiño went 5.0 innings and struck out three while allowing just one run, a third inning solo home run to left fielder Yorman Rodriguez. The win was the seventh by a River Cats starting pitcher this season, their last coming on July 22 (Aaron Sanchez).
Right fielder Braden Bishop kicked off the first inning with a double, advanced to third on third baseman Evan Longoria's ground out, and scored on left fielder Jaylin Davis' sacrifice fly.
Catcher Joey Bart did it all on Friday. The No. 15 prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline, No. 2 in the Giants' organization, picked off a runner, threw out a would-be base stealer, and gave the River Cats a fourth-inning lead they would ultimately hold on to.
Following Davis' leadoff triple, Bart lined a double to left field to give the River Cats a 2-1 advantage. Another extra-base hit in the fifth made it 3-1 when Arismendy Alcántara launched a pinch hit RBI triple that hit off the top of the right-center wall and scored Mauricio Dubón.

Rehabbing right-hander Reyes Moronta tossed another scoreless inning, allowing a walk and a hit in the seventh.
Through two games this series, Sacramento pitchers have surrendered just three runs. That's the lowest this season, surpassing the four total runs allowed in Oklahoma City (May 12-13), which also happened to be the River Cats' lone series win of the season.
The Giants' No. 3 prospect, center fielder Heliot Ramos, went 1-for-4 with a single and a run scored on second baseman Jason Vosler's eighth-inning double.
