Skeeters Scorch Express for 12-3 Win

(ROUND ROCK, Texas) - The Sugar Land Skeeters slugged their way to a 12-3 win Saturday night against the Round Rock Express at Dell Diamond.

Alex Bregman continued his MLB Rehab assignment, going 1-for-5 with a double, RBI and a walk. Bregman was making his seventh rehab appearance. It was the first time during his rehab assignment that he started at third base in back-to-back nights.

The Skeeters tallied four runs in the fourth and sixth innings to power their way to the win.

Bregman had an RBI double in the fourth, along with a two-run double from Michael Papierski and sacrifice fly from Marty Costes.

Papierski finished the night 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. CJ Hinojosa delivered a two-run singles in the four-run sixth inning.

The Skeeters tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the eighth, thanks to a three-run homer from Garrett Stubbs. It was Stubss' second homer with the Skeeters this season and traveled an estimated 424 feet.

Shawn Dubin got the start for the Skeeters and struck out five batters over two perfect innings. Hunter Brown came on in relief and struck out five batters over 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs. Brown, rated by MLB.com as the Houston Astros No. 3 prospect, received the winning decision to move to 2-0 through two Triple A appearances.

The Skeeters and Express play the fourth contest in a six-game series at 6:05 p.m. on Sunday night at Dell Diamond. Right-hander Brandon Bielak is set to make his second Skeeters start of the year and face left-hander Brock Burke.
