Newfoundland Growlers News Release

Michael Garteig was perfect between the pipes for the Newfoundland Growlers turning aside all 44 shots he faced as the Growlers shut out the Manchester Monarchs to extend their winning streak to six games Saturday night at Mile One Centre.

Both goals in the opening period came off the stick of Ryan Moore, who got the Growlers on the board early at 1:33 firing home a big rebound on the power play making it 1-0. The Troy, Michigan native followed that up at 8:51 of the first period slapping one through Chris Dreidger's pads.

The Monarchs controlled most of the action in a scoreless second period, but Michael Garteig was sensational turning aside all 17 shots faced.

The Growlers extended their lead to three with 8:30 to play in the final frame when J.J. Piccinich fired it home on the power play for his second of the season, which held up as the final tally of the game making it a 3-0 final.
