November 10, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI. - Kalamazoo scored on the power play for the third straight night, but it wasn't enough as the Wings fell to Brampton 4-2 on Saturday night.
Aleksandr Mikulovich netted his second goal of the season in the second period, giving the defenseman goals in back-to-back games for the first time in his pro career. Justin Taylor netted a pair of assists for the K-Wings, giving the forward his third multi-point game of the year.
The hustle of Kyle Thomas got the K-Wings on the board in the opening frame, giving the home side an early 1-0 lead. Thomas beat out an icing call, before sending a pass to an open Zach Saar who snapped it home for his first goal of the season and as a K-Wing. Two minutes later Brandon Marino answered back with a power play tally, wristing a shot through traffic, that tied the game at 1-1.
In the second the Beast netted a trio of goals, giving them a 4-2 lead as the buzzer sounded to end the middle frame. Tied up at 1-1, David Vallorani gave the visitors their first lead of the night just 2:28 into the period. Three minutes later the K-Wings knotted the game back up on the man-advantage. Justin Taylor cleanly won a face-off back to Aleksandr Mikulovich who wound up the slap-shot sending it past Etienne Marcoux, and tying the game at 2-2. Brampton would score twice more in the period to retake the lead, getting tallies from David Pacan, and Nathan Todd. The second period tallies were all the scoring as the teams played to a scoreless third period.
Keegan Asmundson, making his second start of the season, stopped 26 of 30 shots taking his first loss of the season. Etienne Marcoux stopped 34 of 36 shots in the victory.
Kalamazoo finished the night one-for-five on the man-advantage, while Brampton finished one-for-eight.
The K-Wings return to action on Thursday morning, taking on the Toledo Walleye at 10:35 am. The team then heads to Cincinnati for a pair of games against the Cyclones before returning home on Black Friday.
Kalamazoo Wings single game and half season tickets are available now! More information can be gathered at www.kwings.com.
