Kalamazoo Growlers News Release

KALAMAZOO, MI - The clouds parted ways for the Kalamazoo Growlers to sweep the Kenosha Kingfish in a 7-6 win, expanding their franchise-record win streak to ten games. Sam Faith paved the way with his two run homerun in the sixth inning to seal the Growlers win.

After a quiet first two innings for both teams, the Growlers got the bats swinging in the third. Baron Radcliff hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Cayman Richardson and Sam Crail turned on the jets to score on a wild pitch. With Kalamazoo in the lead early, Kenosha brought in Max Rimac to finish the inning, but not before Jared Miller hit in Sam Faith on an RBI fielder's choice.

Kenosha responded quickly with a score on a wild pitch followed by a three run home run by Mike Madej.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Growlers got two back on a two run, Baron Radcliff RBI single.

The Kingfish got one back in the fifth on a Jack Weiller RBI single. Devin Ortiz scored on the play but Connor Doyle was thrown out at the plate on a Cayman Richardson throw from center.

The big play of the game was Sam Faith's two run homerun in the bottom of the sixth to give the Growlers a 7-5 lead that they did not relinquish. The final run of the game came in the seventh from the Kingfish on a sacrifice fly by Weiller.

Tommy Vail got the start for the Growlers and went 4.1 innings before being chased in the fifth. He was charged with five earned runs on three hits, four walks, and seven strikeouts.

Luke Boyd was the first man out of the bullpen, in his Growler debut, and was in the game when Kalamazoo regained the lead to earn the win.

Andrew O'Dwyer threw two innings, allowing one run, with two strikeouts. In the ninth inning Mason Shinaberry came on with a one runner on and threw a perfect final frame to get the save.
