
Woodchucks Drop Offensive Showcase to Mallards

Wausau, WIS - The Woodchucks came into tonight's game back at Athletic Park looking to split the two game series against the Madison Mallards in front of a season high attendance of 2,258. The game was filled with offense and it was back and forth in the early going but the Mallards had a big three run inning in the top of the eighth to push their lead from 7-6 to 10-6 and hold on for the win.
After the Mallards took to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 2ndinning, The Chucks struck back with a huge five run bottom of the 2ndfueled off a two run RBI single from centerfielder Reese Alexiades and a two run shot to right from right fielder Zach DeLoach. The Home Run was DeLoach's first of the season.
The Mallards answered with four runs in the top of the 4thinning to to take a 7-5 lead but the Chucks answered with an RBI groundout from Zach DeLoach in their half of the 4thto make it 7-6.
The Chucks got a great relief appearance from Alex Stodola who went 2 1/3 scoreless allowing no hits and striking out four.
The Mallards added three insurance runs in the eighth inning and held on for the 10-6 victory.
Top Performers
Woodchucks centerfielder Reese Alexiades has been scorching at the plate recently and didn't stop tonight going 3-5 with two RBI's. Alexiades has now pushed his average up to .347
Chucks right fielder Zach DeLoach had a huge night at the plate going 2-5 with a two run homer and three RBI'S.
Chucks reliever Alex Stodola did a tremendous job keeping the game close in relief pitching 2 1/3 innings of hitless baseball and striking out four batters.
Woodchucks shortstop Nick Loftin had a very nice day with a single, double and reaching base three times.
