
Dock Spiders Bounce Back with a 5-2 Win over Rafters

FOND DU LAC, WI- The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (14-9) grabbed solo third place in the NWL South Division after a 5-2 win over Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (13-10).
The Rafters were able to get on the board early when Jack-Thomas Wold(UNLV) drove in the first run of the game on a single. Fondy would come right back answer with one of their own in the bottom of the 1st when Alex Erro(Northwestern) lifted one into right center field which drove home Brad Hudson(Southern Illinois) who led things off with a single.
The first two run inning of the game for the Spiders would happen in the 5th inning.Jacob Adams(Ole Miss) led things off reaching all the way to second base on an error. Hudson would follow up with a single. Chris Ayers(Indiana Sate) seized the opportunity presented to him with no outs and sent Adams home on a base that dribbled into the right side of the outfield grabbing a 2-1 lead. Troy Black (Kentucky) followed right up with an RBI single of his own after lifting one into center field which sent home Hudson for the 3-1 lead. For Black he extended his hit streak to 10 games on the base hit.
The 8th inning would prove to be the difference maker in the ball game as the Rafter committed two costly errors. With just one hit in the inning Fondy was able to score twice increasing the lead to 5-2. The magical part about the inning was that all of it happened with two outs. Duncan Hewitt (Butler) who launched one into left field would end up scoring in the inning as well as Jack Wassel(Minnesota) who had reached on a walk.
Zach Bryant(Daytona State) got the save on the game. For the second straight time this season from the Daytona Beach, FL native he faced 5 batters and struck out 3 of them. Jon Young (Indiana Wesleyan) got the start on the mound and got his second win of the season in his fourth start.
Fond du Lac will head on the road tomorrow to take on the Kenosha Kingfish at 6:35 PM.
