Grizzlies Win 3-2 In Las Vegas Shootout

Las Vegas, Nevada - The Utah Grizzlies defeated the Las Vegas Wranglers 3-2 in a shootout Saturday night at the Orleans Arena.

The Grizzlies jumped to an early 2-0 lead with goals from Evan Kotsopoulos and Tim Verbeek in the first 3:36 of the contest. The Wranglers countered with two of their own to tie the game at two just 8:42 into the first period.

The game remained scoreless for the final 56:18 including the five-minute overtime before the shootout ensued.

All three Grizzlies skaters scored in the shootout with Rob Hennigar, Vladimir Nikiforov and Ryan Kinasewich all beating Las Vegas goaltender Kevin Lalande.

Utah goaltender Robert Gherson stopped three of four Wranglers shots in the shootout and 25 of 27 in the game to win his Grizzlies debut. Mike Mole got his first night off since October 24 after starting 27-straight games for Head Coach Kevin Colley.

Utah returns home to open a four-game in five-night home stand Tuesday when they will host the Reading Royals at 7:05 p.m. at the E-Center.
