Condors Fall to Salmon Kings to End Road Trip

VICTORIA, B.C. - The Bakersfield Condors concluded their four-game road trip with a 6-1 loss to the Victoria Salmon Kings before 4,475 fans at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre Sunday afternoon.

After more than 15 minutes of scoreless hockey to start the game, Victoria (24-9-2, 50pts) opened the scoring at 15:59 when RW Curtis Billsten netted the rebound from a slap shot that hit the end wall and charomed in front of the net. G Ryan Nie finished the frame with 11 saves on 12 shots, but Victoria G Jonathan Boutin stopped all 10 shots by the Condors (11-18-4, 26pts) in the period, and the Salmon Kings held a 1-0 lead through one.

The Salmon Kings opened up a 4-0 lead with three tallies in the second period. D Patrick Coulombe notched a power 2008-12-15 pilkingtonplay goal at 10:59, RW Sean O'Connor followed with a shorthanded goal at 15:43 and RW Wes Goldie tallied on a two-man advantage at 18:42. Bakersfield sent 12 shots on goal in the period, but Boutin kept the Condors off the board through 40 minutes.

After Victoria added a pair of power play goals midway through the third period, C Brett Pilkington got Bakersfield on the board with his third of the season at 15:10. F Andrew Ianiero and RW Mike Wirll registered the assists. Nie finished the game with 36 saves, but Victoria picked up the 6-1 win for their 13th consecutive victory.
