Dayton Bombers News Release

Reading, PA- Six different Dayton Bombers skaters tallied at least two points as the Bombers dismantled the Reading Royals 6-2 on Sunday afternoon. Les Reaney led the charge with a pair of goals and an assist.

Playing their third game in as many days, the undoubtedly tired Bombers opened the game strong, as Jarret Lukin netted his team-leading 14th goal of the year just two and a half minutes into the game, assisted by Reaney and Mike Looby. Justin Bowers would grow the lead to 2-0 when he took a feed from Lukin and Mike McLean at the six minute mark. Rounding out scoring in the first was Tomas Zaborsky, scoring his first goal as a Bomber. He was assisted on the play by Bowers and Looby. The Bombers outshot the Royals 18-10 in the frame as netminder Paul Drew, making his third start of the weekend, denied each shot he faced.

The Bombers kept their momentum going in the second period, attacking the goal as often as possible. Early in the period Bowers had a goal waved off from a delayed penalty. The Royals looked to get on the board when they were awarded a penalty shot, but Drew, facing his second free pass attempt of the weekend, handedly denied the shot. McLean increased the Bombers lead to 4-0 when the puck took a funny bounce off a Royals' skate and between the legs of goalie James Reimer. Bowers was credited with an assist on the play. Finally, with under a minute left in the frame the Royals would get on the board with a goal from Kyle Hagel. The Bombers continued to outshoot Reading, 25-19 overall.

Reading opened scoring in the third, cutting Dayton's lead to 4-2, but it would be short lived as the Bombers continued to put pressure on the Royals defense. Facing a new goaltender, Michael Ouzas, in the third period Reaney would take a feed from Dan Riedel and Kelly Perrault to increase the Bombers lead to 5-2. Then on the power play late in the period it was Reaney again who sealed the deal at 6-2 from Lukin and Riedel.

Drew finished the night 31 of 33, while Reading's Reimer went 21 of 25 in 40 minutes and Ouzas was 11 of 13 in the third.

The Bombers were 1 of 7 on the power play and 5 of 5 on the penalty kill.
