Utah Grizzlies News Release
The Situation
The Grizzlies enter the week at 4-1-0-3 in their last eight games, coming off of a six-game road trip to Victoria and Idaho. Utah opens a five-game home stand Wednesday with Victoria. All six games on the trip were decided by one goal and five went to shootouts.
Road Trip Leader
AJ Perry led the Grizzlies on their just completed trip with two goals and six assists in six games. Perry enters the week fifth in the league in scoring with 19 goals and 37 assists for 56 points in 45 games.
Good Goaltending
The Grizzlies have allowed three goals or less in seven of their last eight games. Mitch O'Keefe is 2-1-0-1 in his last four starts with a 2.13 goals-against-average and a.938 save percentage. Beau Erickson is 2-0-0-1 in his last four starts with a 2.21 goals-against-average and a.931 save percentage. Erickson made his first start Saturday since February 4 and stopped 37 of 40 Idaho shots through overtime.
Sixsmith Returns
James Sixsmith returned to the Utah lineup Friday after missing the first four games of the road trip with Pneumonia. The forward factored in on all three Utah goals Saturday with two goals and one assist and had an assist in Friday's game as he returned to the lineup. Utah is 12-5-0-1 with Sixsmith in the lineup; he also leads the team with a plus-12.
Victoria/Grizzlies
The Grizzlies and Salmon Kings are in a stretch of playing six of nine games against each other. Utah and Victoria have played five-straight one-goal games to start their season series and have gone to shootouts in four-straight games. Dating back to last year, the Grizzlies and Salmon Kings have played one-goal contests in ten of their last 11 meetings.
This Week's Big Goals
Islanders rookie prospect Tony Romano scored the game-winning goal in the sudden-death shootout Friday and tied the game with a breakaway goal Saturday with 1:07 left to go in regulation to send the contest to a shootout.
Sounds About Right
Ryan Kinasewich, who was loaned to the Grizzlies and Islanders AHL affiliate in Bridgeport Monday, totaled two goals and two assists in three games this past weekend for the Sound Tigers. The Grizzlies all-time leading scorer, who led the ECHL in scoring at the time of his promotion, had two power-play goals and one assist in Bridgeport's 6-4 win over Hartford Saturday.
