Road Trippin': The Gladiators play 10 of their next 12 games on the road.
Captain Berti: Forward and newly named captain Adam Berti (13 goals, 29 assists) leads the team with 42 points and is the first Gladiator to eclipse the 40-point mark this season.
Enforcer?: Gladiator forward Dan Sullivan, a known fighter and enforcer, set a new career best with an 8-game point streak from January 23rd-February 9th, including 3 goals and 7 assists. He has not had a fighting major since a January 29th game at Elmira.
Special Teams: The Gladiators own the league's best road penalty kill unit with 88.1% killed off but are ranked dead last in the league in home penalty kill with just 77.2% killed off.
Cap'n Sully: The Glads are 7-1 in games when Dan Sullivan scores.
Southern Comfort: The Gladiators are 16-14-3-2 against teams from the South Division this season.
Sin Bin: With 838 penalty minutes, the Gladiators are the fifth least penalized team in the league.
Extra Time: The Gladiators have played 14 overtime games and lead the league with 23 points earned in overtime/shootout games. They are 7-3 in games ending in overtime.
Stingy: Gwinnett is 15-0 when holding opponents to less than three goals and 21-6 when holding opponents under four goals.
5 Alive: The Gladiators are 12-1-0-1 when scoring at least five goals and are 16-2-1-0 when leading after 2 periods.
First Blood: Gwinnett is 19-7-2-1 in games when scoring first.
Blueliners: All-Star Drew Paris leads all rookie defensemen with 33 points, while teammate and fellow All-Star Sam Roberts is second with 29.
Lighting the Lamp: The Gladiators are one of just three teams in the league to have not suffered a shutout all season. Cincinnati and Elmira are the other two.
Between the Pipes: David Brown earned wins in back-to-back nights for the first time this season with a 2-1 victory over Charlotte on Saturday night and a 6-3 win over Florida on Sunday. He went 2-1 last week with a 2.00 goals against average and a.942 save percentage.
Playoffs: The Gladiators now find themselves just one point short of a playoff position and five points out of third place in the South Division.
Last Week's Games:
- February 14, Gwinnett 6, Florida 3 - W
Tim Miller and Mike McLean had goals for the Gladiators, as the teams traded two goals each through the first and most of the second period, but Gwinnett scored four of the final five goals, including one each from Chad Denny and Drew Paris and two from Dan Sullivan, as they won their second straight and third of the last five. David Brown made 29 saves in his second win in as many nights. The Gladiators finished 3-for-5 on the power play.
- February 13, Gwinnett 2, Charlotte 1 - W
Chad Denny scored just 1:31 into the opening period, and Tim Miller made it 2-0 on a power play goal at 13:51 of the first, while David Brown came within 6.9 seconds of his first pro shutout, as the Gladiators knocked off the Charlotte Checkers 2-1. It was Brown's first win in his last five starts. Gwinnett held the Checkers to no power play goals in five chances.
- February 12, Charlotte 5, Gwinnett 1 - L
Tim Miller gave the Gladiators a 1-0 lead in the first with his 9th goal of the season on a wrap around at 15:33. Charlotte tied the game at one in the second. The Checkers then scored four consecutive goals in the third, as Gwinnett's defense broke down. The Gladiators failed to score on the power play for the third straight game, and Danny Taylor lost his first game in five starts.
- February 10, Florida 3, Gwinnett 1 - L
The Gladiators fell behind in the second period when Florida's Shea Guthrie and Brandon Buck combined for a goal at the 12:35 mark. Scott Mifsud tied the game at one with his 13th goal of the season, but Mathieu Roy restored the Everblades' one-goal lead with just over three minutes to go, and Ryan Lang added an empty net goal in the last minute to seal the win. David Brown made 34 saves in the loss, and Dan Sullivan's career-best eight-game point streak came to an end.
- February 9, Gwinnett 4, Florida 3 - W
Chad Denny scored for the second straight game to open the scoring at 18:59 of the first period, and Mike McLean made it 2-0 just 36 seconds later with an assist to Tim Miller and Dan Sullivan, who extended his career-best point streak to eight games. But Brandon Buck recorded a natural hat trick in the second period to put the Everblades up 3-2. It appeared Florida would win in regulation, but Tim Miller knocked home a shot in the crease to tie the game at three and send it into overtime with less than a minute left in regulation. Adam Berti scored his first overtime goal of the season 3:11 into the extra frame to boost the Gladiators and Danny Taylor, who made 25 saves in the game, to their fourth straight victory.
