This Week:

2/19 & 2/20 vs. Trenton, 7:05 a.m. - Home (0-1-0), Away (2-3-0) This weekend gives the Chiefs a chance to even up the season series against the Devils. Johnstown took down Trenton in their most recent meeting on February 3 at the Sun National Bank Center with John Murray posting 29 saves for a shutout win. Matthew Myers scored his second game-winning goal of the season against Trenton while Bryan Marshall and Chanse Fitzpatrick added insurance goals. Trenton last visited Johnstown on December 26 and skated away with a 3-2 win. Chanse Fitzpatrick gave the Chiefs a 1-0 lead 9:44 into the first period, but Jeff Prough responded for the Devils with a pair of scores 2:42 apart and the Devils never trailed from there. Kris Mayotte sustained the loss while making 26 saves. The Devils have been trading wins and losses ever since winning back-to-back games on January 22 and 27. They won their most recent game, 7-5, in Elmira on February 14.

2/21 at Elmira, 4:05 p.m. - Home (0-1-1), Away (0-1-1) In the nearly two months since the Chiefs and Jackals played last, December 31, 2009, Elmira has caught fire and leapt to the top of the East Division standings. Their record of 8-1-1 over their last 10 is one of the best marks in the league, and they were the first team to crack the 200-goal plateau. The last time the Chiefs visited Elmira, on December 20, the game produced the most exciting conclusion to a game this season. In his first game with the Chiefs after being traded by Elmira, Chanse Fitzpatrick scored the tying goal with four seconds left in regulation. Fitzpatrick added a score in the shootout, but Elmira would prevail in the breakaway competition by a score of 3-2. Justin Donati, Keegan Dansereau, and Olivier Proulx beat Kris Mayotte to help Elmira earn the extra point. Dating back to last season, three of the last four games between the Chiefs and Jackals in Elmira have gone to overtime.

Last Week: (1-3-0)

2/9 at Wheeling: W 4-3 SO In Wheeling's first-ever Kid's Day game, and 11:05 start time, but it was the Johnstown Chiefs playing the role of early bird and getting the worm. Multi-point efforts by Connor Shields (2G), Chanse Fitzpatrick (3A), and Matthew Kang (3A) provided the spark for the Chiefs' attack. The Nailers would not go away easily and battled back from a 3-1 third period deficit to tie the game and force overtime. Neither team could score in suddent death, but it would be the Chiefs ruling supreme in the shootout. The Nailers did edge out to a 2-1 lead after two rounds, but the Chiefs won the final three 2-0 with Jim McKenzie and Fitzpatrick converting while Kris Mayotte slammed the door shut. It was the sixth game of nine between Johnstown and Wheeling this season that went to overtime.

2/12 at Kalamazoo: L 4-5 In their first, and only, trip to Kalamazoo this season the Chiefs battled hard but came up a goal short against a team that hadn't lost on home ice in the 2010 calendar year. Johnstown led 2-1 after the first on goals by Connor Shields and Trevor Hendrikx. The Wings bounced back to take the 3-2 lead in the second as Darryl Lloyd and Trent Daavettila netted power play markers. The Chiefs twice pulled within one goal in the third period on scores by Shields and Mike Couch, but Kalamazoo was equal to the task with two scores of its own. Shields attempted the Chiefs' first penalty shot of the season at 9:21 of the first, but was turned aside by Ryan Nie. The win by Nie was his first against his former club.

2/13 at Cincinnati: L 2-6 The Chiefs and John Murray returned to the scene, U.s. Bank Arena, where they posted one of the more impressive wins of the season. Just over two weeks earlier Murray registerd 46 saves in a 5-1 Chiefs win. This night, however, Cincinnati emerge triumphant on the strenght of a 3-for-8 effort on the power play. Dustin Sproat (3G, 1A) and Jimmy Kilpatrick (1G, 3A) were the cogs in the Cyclones' offensive machine. The Chiefs crept close in the second, pulling the score to within 4-2 on scores by Jordan Morrison and Bryan Marshall. Cincinnati fired back with two in the third, though, to put the distance back between them and the Chiefs.

2/14 vs. Cincinnati: L 1-5 Finishing up the weekend's home-and-home series the Chiefs started out much better on home ice against Cincinnati. Bryan Marshall opened the scoring at 8:09 and brought the fans to their feet. The goal helped him extend his goal streak against his former club to three games (3G). For the rest of the game, however, the Cyclones outchanced the Chiefs by the obscene count of 11-2 and used two 5-on-3 power play goals to help earn the victory. Mark Voakes led all goal scorers on the night with two while Barret Ehgoetz, Ryan Del Monte, and Scott Reynolds also chipped in. John Murray got the start for the second straight night but took the loss in making 18 saves.
