
Grizzlies To Host Community Fund Weekend

Fresno, CA- The Fresno Grizzlies Community Fund is proud to announce the lineup for its annual Community Fund Weekend at Chukchansi Park. Beginning Thursday August 2nd and concluding Sunday August 5th, all proceeds of the weekend event will benefit the Grizzlies Community Fund's flagship program, the Junior Grizzlies, a non-competitive baseball league for kids with physical and mental disabilities. Debuting in 2005, Community Fund Weekend has expanded over the past two seasons to a four game event that seeks to raise awareness and funds for the nonprofit arm of the Fresno Grizzlies organization.
Community Fund Weekend will begin tonight, Thursday August 2nd with the Grizzlies Hat Raffle. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win their favorite Grizzlies player's hat. Winners will meet the respective Grizzlies player on the field immediately after the game to receive the hat right off their head.
Friday continues with the We've Gone Batty bat auction. Nearly 20 broken bats, used by the Grizzlies in PCL action, will be auctioned off to benefit Junior Grizzlies. All of the bats that have been collected by the Grizzlies players throughout the season have been autographed.
The weekend rolls on with all things Giants on Saturday. The day kicks off with Junior Giants Clinic in Reedley at 10:30 am. Grizzlies players will conduct a clinic for over 150 Junior Giants participants. Junior Giants is the flagship program of the San Francisco Giants Community Fund and is a non-competitive baseball league. Saturday night, the Grizzlies will present a tribute to their parent club with ...And Then They Were Giants night. The Grizzlies will take the field wearing Giants replica jerseys, which will be up for grabs in a live postgame auction.
To cap off the festivities, Sunday will feature a fan favorite, Surprise Autographed Baseballs. Over 100 autographed baseballs have been wrapped to conceal the signature. Fans can purchase the baseballs for $20 and have the chance at getting a baseball signed by players such as Tim Lincecum, Kevin Frandsen, Fred Lewis, and many more. All purchases include a 2007 Grizzlies trading card set. Also on Sunday, the Grizzlies Community Fund will welcome all of the Central Valley Junior Giants to the ballpark.
The Grizzlies Community Fund was established in 2004 to use baseball as an outlet to promote three main components: education/literacy, health and youth sports. Through the Community Fund, the Grizzlies provide outreach programs for children and adults throughout the Central Valley. The Grizzlies Community Fund is dedicated to supporting organizations in the Central Valley that are committed to leveling the playing field for everyone involved. The Fund's flagship program, Junior Grizzlies, gives all kids the opportunity to play baseball, regardless of their limitations.
