Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, CA - As it turns out, the Fresno Grizzlies have a pitcher capable of dominating an offense as well. A night after Oklahoma RedHawks starter Mike Wood gave Fresno Grizzlies batters fits at the plate, Grizzlies starter Matt Kinney returned fire with a gem of his own.

Kinney (8-9) led the Grizzlies (58-55) to a 4-3 win over the RedHawks (55-55) as the two teams completed the second game of their four-game series.

And also like Wood did on Wednesday, the only runs Kinney gave up were courtesy of a home run, a two-run shot of the bat of Nate Gold in the seventh inning. Kinney allowed only three hits in his seven innings pitched, striking out five RedHawks batters. He also didn't allow a hit until the fourth inning.

Offensively for the Grizzlies, Tomas De La Rosa took charge early, scoring the Grizzlies' first two runs of the game as he reached base via a single and his first triple of the season, respectively. De La Rosa was one of four Grizzlies to have two hits on the night. Fresno catcher Justin Knoedler joined De La Rosa in the triples column, hitting his second three-bagger of the year.

Thursday's game wasn't without drama however, as Oklahoma made a ninth inning run at the Grizzlies, scoring a run off of Fresno closer Brian Wilson to bring the game to within a run. The RedHawks would leave the bases loaded though, as Wilson finished the game to earn his ninth save of the season.

Oklahoma starter Robinson Tejeda (0-2) took the loss for the RedHawks, as he threw five and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs and nine hits.

Tomorrow night's third game of the series will see Chukchansi Park turned into a haven for superheroes, as the first 5,000 fans will receive comic books on Superhero Night. Following the game, Bingham Toyota presents another epic Friday Night Fireworks show and fans can enjoy the animated superhero movie The Incredibles on the video board. Also, the first 1,000 fans through the gates at Friday's game will receive Rally Towels courtesy of Rally's.
