Grizzlies Sign Dennis Packard

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that the team has signed forward Dennis Packard.

The Grizzlies are proud to be the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and their AHL affiliate in Bridgeport.

Packard, six-foot-five and 233 pounds is a 2001 draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He has 237 games of AHL experience with Worcester, Providence and Springfield and logged 31 ECHL games with Johnstown from 2004-2006.

Last year in Worcester, Packard had 11 goals and 19 assists in 76 games. In 2006-2007, the Ontario native logged 68 games with Providence and tallied six goals and 12 assists.

The Grizzlies open a three-game road trip tonight in Victoria at 8:05 p.m. Utah and the Salmon Kings will also meet Friday and Saturday at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Utah returns home Wednesday, November 5 to open a three-game home stand with Ontario that continues Friday the 7th and Saturday the 8th will all games starting at 7:05 p.m.

The Utah Grizzlies, of the ECHL, celebrate their 15th anniversary season in 2008-2009. Owned and operated by the Elmore Sports Group, the Grizzlies enter their second season and sixth overall as an affiliate of the New York Islanders. South Jordan resident and former Islander Kevin Colley enters his first season as the Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations after serving as Jason Christie's Assistant Coach in 2007-2008 as the team advanced to the National Conference Finals. The Grizzlies play all home games at the E-Center of West Valley City, which hosted hockey during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
