
Jackals Set For Three Game Home Stand

Elmira, NY- The Elmira Jackals have a busy weekend ahead with three games in in four nights starting tonight at First Arena. The Idaho Steelheads are in town for the first of two between the two teams beginning at 7:05 p.m. The Jackals and Steelheads will play the second of two on Friday, October 31st, with a 7:35 p.m. face-off. The Jackals home stand concludes Saturday, November 1st when the team plays host to division rival Trenton at 7:35 p.m.
The Jackals currently occupy the fourth place position in the North Division of the American Conference, with a 3-2-0 record. The Steelheads are currently in last place in the National Conference, West Division with a 1-1-0-1 record.
FIREPOWER- The Jackals are lead by forward Tyler Donati who is currently tied for second in scoring in the ECHL with 12 points in 5 games. Moises Gutierrez had netted the first goal in all three of the Jackals home games, he sits on (4 goals and 2 assists). Steve Yetman holds up third in scoring for the Jackals with (4 goals 1 assist).
The Steelheads scoring department is lead by Garett Drawbridge (3 points) and Steve Gainey (3 points).
IN THE CREASE- The Jackals have had some shake ups in goal. Mitch O'Keefe was recalled to Binghamton after starting his ECHL season at 2-1 with a .910 save percentage and a 2.94 goals against average. Rob McVicar left the Jackals and the United States to play in Europe. Derek MacIntyre and Ryan Nie arrived in Elmira as emergency back ups. Nie played in the 5-3 loss to Augusta, with an 0-1 record the former Johnstown Chief sits on a .821 save percentage and a 5.06 goals against average.
The Steelheads have had superb goaltending with Matt Climie at 1-0 with a goals against average of 1 and a .969 save percentage. Rejean Beauchemin is 0-1-0-1 with a .932 save percentage and a 1.94 goals against.
PLUS 6- Jackals rookie defenseman Travis Gawryletz is 3rd in the ECHL in (+ -) at + 6. Fellow rookie defenseman Slavomir Tomko is tied for 10th at +4.
SPECIAL TEAMS- Powerplay percentage is nothing special for either team. The Steelheads are currently at 13.6% on the man advantage, while the Jackals are at a rocky 7.5%. The Jackals make up for their power play with their 6th ranked penalty kill at nearly 88% efficient. The Steelheads are in the middle of the pack at 81% effective on the kill. Both teams average 23 minutes in penalties per game.
NEXT UP- These two clubs will rematch on Friday at 7:35 pm. Be at First Arena for the Worlds Largest Halloween party.
Saturday- The Jackals host Trenton at 7:35, the Steelheads travel to Reading to take on the Royals, before making a stop in Trenton on Sunday.
