Wranglers Host Stockton On Halloween

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers® posted a 1-2-0 record this past week in three straight games against the Ontario Reign. Thursday night, Las Vegas fell to the Reign in the Home Opener 4-2. The Wranglers bounced back with the team's first win of the year on Friday, a 4-1 win over Ontario. Saturday night, the series shifted to the Citizens Business Bank Arena for the Reign's first-ever home opener, a 4-1 win for Ontario.

Las Vegas will play one game this week. The Wranglers host the Stockton Thunder this Friday night at 7:30 PM at the Orleans Arena. To celebrate Halloween, kids in costume will get in free. Candy will be provided to all trick-or-treaters.

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers were defeated by the Ontario Reign 4-2 on Thursday night in front of 5,019 fans at the Orleans Arena. Ontario Right Wing Geoff Walker scored a goal and dished out two assists as the Reign spoiled the Wranglers Opening Night. Ontario goalie Jeff Zatkoff stopped 28 of 30 Las Vegas shots for the victory. Wranglers' forward Chris Neiszner and defenseman Mike Madill each scored in the loss. Goalie Martin Houle stopped 20 Ontario shots in the defeat.

Friday, October 24th

Ontario 1 at Las Vegas 4

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Ontario Reign 4-1 on Friday night in front of 4,802 fans at the Orleans Arena. Forwards J.D Watt, Chris Ferraro and Mike Hamilton, as well as defenseman Mike Madill each scored in the win. Goalie Martin Houle picked up his first victory with Las Vegas, holding the Reign scoreless for 56:19 and stopping 15 of 16 shots. Right wing Peter Ferraro picked up two assists as Las Vegas ended a three-game winless skid.

Saturday, October 24th

Las Vegas 1 at Ontario 4

Ontario, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers were defeated by the Ontario Reign 4-1 at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Saturday night. Ontario goalie Jeff Zatkoff stopped 34 Las Vegas shots, including 17 in the second period to lead the Reign to victory. Ontario's Todd Jackson had a goal and an assist in the Reign's home opener. Defenseman David Walker's second period power-play goal proved to be the game winner. Ontario stopped all seven Las Vegas power plays. Forward Matt Beaudoin scored the lone Las Vegas goal.

Wranglers Roster Report -

The Wranglers added right wing rookie J.D. Watt. The Calgary Flames assigned Watt to the Wranglers last Wednesday. With goalie John DeCaro nursing a lower-body injury, Martin Houle was signed on Thursday and started all three games over the weekend. Bryan Bridges was released as the team's emergency back-up goaltender. Defenseman Jason Dest remains on the three-day injured reserve. Center Tyler Mosienko is on the seven-day injured reserve list with an upper-body injury. Left wing Shawn Limpright suffered an upper body injury in the team's home opener. Limpright has not been placed on the IR and no time table has been set for his return. Defenseman Brandon Straub remains in the AHL with Quad City.

Upcoming Opponents.....

Stockton Thunder - 2-3-0, 4 points, 3rd Place, Pacific

The Wranglers and Thunder met in the first round of the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Las Vegas defeated Stockton 4-2 in the best-of-seven series. The Wranglers are 16-3-1 all-time against the Thunder. The two teams will play a total of seven times this year. Head coach Chris Cichocki enters his fourth season with the Thunder. Cichocki is 83-104-34 with the Thunder and 210-226-68 all-time. Forward Mike Lalonde returns after one season in Europe. Lalonde, a former Wrangler, scored 43 goals and gathered 92 points in 34 games with the Tulburg Trappers in Germany last year. Former Wrangler Adam Huxley is back for his third season with Stockton. Huxley led the Thunder for the second straight year with 200 penalty minutes in 61 games played.
