Elmira, NY- The Elmira Jackals followed the script of back and fourth, close games again tonight at First Arena, falling to the Idaho Steelheads 4-3. The Jackals also followed the script of Moises Gutierrez scoring the first goal of the game and Tyler Donati and Steve Yetman netting points.
The scoring got started just 4:17 into the first on a Steelheads goal from Steve Gainey. The Jackals would counter with a power play goal from Moises Gutierrez who was assisted by Tyler Donati and Steve Yetman at the 7:15 mark of the first. The Steelheads would then retake the lead at the 17:42 mark of the first on a power play goal from Blaine Jarvis.
The Jackals would tie the hockey game at 2-2 at the 5:52 mark of the second period on a Brandon Roach slap shot goal on the power play. Steve Yetman and Tyler Donati would assist on the play. The Steelheads would then hit a switch and have Marty Flichel score two goals, the first at the 9:21 mark the second at the 10:33 mark.
The Jackals would pressure through the third period and finally crack Idaho goalie Matt Climie at the 10:26 mark of the third period. Benoit Doucet netted his first goal of the season to pull the game to 4-3. The Jackals would pressure but were unable to get the equalizer.
