
Grizzlies Release Opening Day Roster

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies have released their opening day roster for the 2018-19 season.
Returning players include Ryan Walters, who led the Grizzlies last year with 29 goals, 34 assists and 63 points. Ryan Misiak played in all 72 games last season for Utah. Brendan Harms was 3rd in points scored after Christmas last year. Defenseman Taylor Richart had 17 goals last season, which is tied for the league lead among defenseman. Gage Ausmus brings back a stable, solid defenseman to the club.
New players include Forwards Cole Ully, Josh Winquist, Caleb Herbert and Austin Carroll, who have all played over 100 games in the AHL. Tim McGauley spent 14 games with the Hersey Bears in the AHL last season. McGauley spent 2 seasons with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL.
3 players are joining the Grizzlies for their 2nd stint with the club. Forward Matt Berry was with Utah for the 2015-16 season, scoring 16 goals and 21 assists in 38 games. Defenseman Teigan Zahn is back with Utah after spending the last 4 seasons with the Colorado Eagles. Zahn scored a career high 7 goals for Utah in the 2013-14 season. Goaltender Kevin Carr led the Grizzlies in wins last year with 12, all of them before the all-star break.
Defenseman Kevin Davis had 105 assists in his last 2 seasons with the WHL's Everett Silvertips. Josh Anderson is a big, physical 6'3 220 pound defenseman. Matthew Pufahl spent the last 4 seasons with Acadia University and Joey Raats was with Arizona State University for the past 3 years.
Goaltender Joe Cannata won all 16 playoff games in goal for the 2018 Kelly Cup Champion Colorado Eagles. Cannata tied for the league lead with a .931 save percentage in the 2017-18 season.
Forwards (10): Josh Winquist, Ryan Misiak, Cole Ully, Ryan Walters, Matt Berry, Austin Carroll, Tim McGauley, Brendan Harms, Caleb Herbert, RT Rice.
Defenseman (7): Josh Anderson, Kevin Davis, Taylor Richart, Teigan Zahn, Gage Ausmus, Matthew Pufahl, Joey Raats.
Goaltenders (4): Christian Frey, Joe Cannata, Kevin Carr, Brandon Wildung.

Grizzlies notes: Tim Branham enters his 6th season as Grizzlies head coach. He is tied with Butch Goring for the most wins in Utah history with 178. Assistant coach Ryan Kinasewich is the Grizzlies all-time leading scorer. Bryan Erspamer is in his first year as Athletic Trainer. Chris Schornack is in his 2nd season as the Grizzlies Equipment Manager.
