Grizzlies Pound Las Vegas 9-2

Las Vegas, Nevada - The Utah Grizzlies defeated the Las Vegas Wranglers 9-2 Thursday night at the Orleans Arena. Utah was led by rookie Matt Caria who had one goal and four assists. 13 total Utah players scored in the game and six had multiple-point nights.

The Grizzlies took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal from Evan Kotsopoulos at 2:24 of the first period and never looked back as they built a 3-0 lead in the first 6:37 of the contest; as James Sixsmith and Ryan Kinasewich also added goals. After a Las Vegas goal at 7:43, Utah regained the momentum back with a Dylan Hunter goal at 11:38 to lead 4-1 at the first intermission.

Utah started the scoring in the second period as Vic Bartley's first pro goal, 30 seconds into the frame, made it 5-1. The Grizzlies continued the scoring barrage; also adding scores from Kinasewich, Hunter and Caria's first pro goal to make it 8-1 at the second intermission.

The Utah scoring concluded at 6:55 of the third period when Jason Dale knocked home a rebound in his first pro game to make it 9-1 before Las Vegas added the games final tally at 10:21.

Utah went 3-6 on the power-play and 6-6 on the penalty-kill. Goaltender Parker Van Buskirk stopped 33 of 35 shots in the Utah win.

The Grizzlies return to action Friday in Bakersfield. Face-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.

Utah returns home next Wednesday and Friday, November 6 to host Idaho at the E-Center. Face-off both evenings is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
