Stingrays Even Series 1-1, Win 3-2

Estero, FL - The Florida Everblades faced-off against the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday night, in the second match up of a three-game series. Everblades left winger Mathieu Roy notched two goals in the game. Stingray's forward Gregg Johnson had two points (1g, 1a) where as goaltender Todd Ford had 33 saves in the 3-2 South Carolina victory.

The first stanza opened with Everblades left winger Mathieu Roy scoring his second goal of the season at 12:13 of the first period. Roy redirected A.J. Thelen's shot from the blueline for the early 1-0 lead.

South Carolina stormed back with a quick goal courtesy of center Matt Fornataro. Stingray's defensemen Zach Tarkir picked up the lone assist on the goal to make it 1-1.

The Stingrays took the lead at 12:40 in the second period, after the Blades turned a puck over in the neutral zone. Forward Gregg Johnson was credited with his first goal of the season putting the Stingrays up 2-1. The Stingrays had a goal disallowed on a power-play; as one of their players played the puck with his hand. Blades left winger Ernie Hartlieb got the team and crowd back into the action with his first fight of the season delivering multiple blows on Stingrays defensemen Nate Kiser. The Everblades out shot the Stingrays 13-6 in the second period.

At 16:14 in the final stanza, Mathieu Roy broke into the Stingrays zone and scored his second goal of the game, evening the score at 2-2.

Blades center Colin Nicholson picked up his first point of the season with the assist. The Stingrays grabbed the lead at 6:09 of the third period, as defensemen Dylan Yeo's wraparound attempt found the stick of Trent Campbell for the 3-2 lead. The Blades had multiple chances to score but were unable to convert and ended up dropping the game 3-2.

The Everblades return to action on Halloween night against the South Carolina Stingrays. Come out tomorrow, kids 12 and under get in free with a paying adult and receive a free ice cream if wearing a Halloween costume. The drop of the puck is at 7:30 p.m.
