Charlotte Checkers News Release

CHARLOTTE, NC-There have been recent reports that the Charlotte Checkers are considering a possible alternative facility in Matthews, N.C. in which to play their home games. The reports involve a 125-acre sports complex that is neither planned, nor funded.

"The Charlotte Checkers will not be leaving Time Warner Cable Arena any time in the foreseeable future," team owner Michael Kahn officially stated today. "Any assumption otherwise is pure speculation."

The Checkers (2-1-0) will travel to Gwinnett tonight before returning for the home opener this Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m., also against the Gladiators. Ticket information can be obtained by calling 704-342-4-ICE or visiting www.gocheckers.com. Fans are encouraged to bring their skates for a post-game skate with the Checkers.
