Playing four of their next five games on the road, the Kalamazoo Wings head to West Virginia for a one-game road trip against the Wheeling Nailers. Tonight is the first divisional clash for the K-Wings, while the Nailers are 0-2-0-0 versus the North, with both losses coming against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
Leading the North Division by three points, the K-Wings are off a perfect 5-0-0-0 start, the second-best in the clubs history. Rick Cleaver leads the K-Wings in scoring racking up 9 points (3 goals, 6 assists) and is currently riding a five-game point streak.
Wheeling snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 6-5 shootout road victory against the Trenton Devils. With six goals, Thomas Beauregard is tied for second in the ECHL. Currently in fourth in the North, the Nailers have started the season 2-5-0-0 and are 0-2-0-0 at the WesBanko Arena.

McGuirk Debuts
Earlier today, the K-Wings have activated forward Brian McGuirk from the 7-Day IR. In a separate transactions, the K-Wings have moved goaltender Ryan Nie from the 3-Day to the 7-Day IR and have place defenseman David Sloane on the 3-Day IR.
Off to a Good Start
One of just three undefeated teams remaining in the ECHL (Elmira and Idaho), Kalamazoo is off to one of their best starts in their history. The organizations record for best start to a season is 7-0-0-0 set during 1990-91 season, when the K-Wings were in the International Hockey League.
Five Alive
Forward Rick Cleaver has had a productive start to the sesaon. Cleaver, who has recorded two three-point nights this year, is currently on a five-game point and assist streak.
Nearing the Century Mark
Kalamazoo's Darryl Lloyd is closing in on a personal milestone. Lloyd needs two more assists to reach 100 in his career.
