Utah Grizzlies News Release
WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH (Feb. 13, 2003) - The Utah Grizzlies National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate, the Dallas Stars, announced today that they have re-called left wing Steve Ott from the Grizzlies.
Ott, 20, made his NHL debut with the Stars on December 13th versus Atlanta and played in eight games with Dallas recording his first NHL goal on December 31st versus Edmonton. The rookie forward also recorded two penalty minutes and was a +3 in his time with the Stars.
For Utah this season, Ott has played in 40 games recording nine goals and 11 assists with 98 penalty minutes. He is coming off his first professional four-point night on Friday, February 13th versus Worcester when he scored two goals and had two assists.
This past week, Ott was named by The Hockey News as one of the top 50 prospects in their Future Watch issue. Ott was originally a first round draft selection of the Stars in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Ott is the second Grizzly player in as many days to be summoned by the Stars. Goaltender Corey Hirsch was re-called yesterday to replace the injured Marty Turco. Ott will replace forward Brendan Morrow on the Star's active roster.
The Grizzlies return to action on Friday night when they host the Chicago Wolves at the E-Center. Face-off is 7:00 PM.
