Generals score two in third for win

GREENSBORO, NC - The Greensboro Generals added two third period goals to fend off the Richmond Renegades 4-3 at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Generals (31-15-5) allowed three goals in the final period, only to score the final two goals of the game and earn a much needed victory.

Greensboro got on the board early with a goal at the 12:20 mark of the first by Matt Turek. Sam Ftorek followed with his team leading 25th goal of the season, sending the Generals into the second period leading 2-0.

After a scoreless second period, Richmond began making their charge for the victory. The Renegades (25-25-3) began their scoring frenzy with a goal by Brad Church just 2:44 into the period. Richmond's David Brosseau knotted the game at 2-2 with a power-play conversion. Martin Bartek gave Richmond a brief lead of 3-2 at the 6:58 mark. Following a timeout, Sam Ftorek added his second goal of the night to even the score and send the momentum in the favor of the Generals at 3-3. With just under nine minutes remaining, Chris Allen's goal gave the Generals a 4-3 victory.

The Generals travel to face the Trenton Titans on Friday at 7:05. Greensboro returns home on Sunday, February 16th, where they face the Roanoke Express. This game was originally scheduled for Saturday, however was moved to a 4 p.m. start on Sunday. Fans can listen to the game on WPET 950AM and www.greensborogenerals.com.
