Utah Grizzlies News Release
Bakersfield, California - The Utah Grizzlies fought back to tie Bakersfield twice Saturday night. Utah was able to fight back and tie the score in the second and late in the third but fell 4-3 in a Shoot-out.
The first period was very offensive with both teams combining for 35 shots and the only goal in the first was from Jason Goulet of Bakersfield.
The Grizzlies evened the score in the second when Ryan Kinasewich scored his 21st of the season on a centering pass from Rob Sirianni. Jeff Dwyer was also credited with an assist on the goal.
Less than five minutes into the third, Scott Burt connected for his 25th of the year from Micheal Haley and Olivier Labelle giving the Grizzlies the 2-1 edge. However, the Condors fired back with two quick ones by Mark Derlago and Brett Lutes. But, the Grizzlies refused to give in and Labelle tied it with his 24th of the year, with 2:29 remaining in regulation. Haley and Sirianni both got their second assists of the game on the goal.
The Grizzlies fell however in five rounds of the shoot-out 3-2. Ryan Cruthers and James Sanford were the scorers for the Grizzlies in the shoot-out.
Wylie Rogers looked great in goal again for the Grizzlies stopping 41 of 44 shots.
Utah returns to action Monday in Bakersfield for another 8:00 p.m. face-off.
The Grizzlies complete their 2007-2008 regular season Thursday, Friday and Saturday hosting Stockton at the E-Center. Face-off all three nights is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Utah has clinched a playoff berth for the second time in three seasons. The ECHL's Kelly Cup playoffs are scheduled to begin the following week.
