Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - Matt O'Dette scored two goals, including the game-tying tally in the final minute of regulation, lifting the Fresno Falcons to a 4-3 shootout win over the Idaho Steelheads on Saturday in front of 6,182 fans at Save Mart Center. With the win, Fresno improves to 40-20-8 on the season, marking the second time in three seasons that the Falcons have reached the 40-win plateau.

Idaho wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, tallying the game's first goal just 16 seconds into the opening period. Aaron Gagnon sent the puck to Mark Bombersback in the left-wing circle, and he swept the puck beyond the reach of Jake Moreland to give the Steelheads an early 1-0 lead.

But, the Falcons answered at 3:16 to pull even. Josh Prudden skated down the right-wing side of the Idaho zone and had his initial shot stopped by Steve Silverthorn, but Prudden pushed his own rebound past the Idhao goaltender for his sixth goal of the season, tying the score after one period.

O'Dette gave the Falcons the lead with a power-play goal 45 seconds into the second period. O'Dette gathered in a pass from Prudden at the hash marks, and beat Silverthorn with a quick redirection for his fourth goal of the season.

The Steelheads tied the score with a power-play goal of their own at 11:45. After Moreland had made a save, Kory Scoran pinched in from the blue line and pushed a loose puck past the Falcons' goaltender on the far post, tying the score at 2 through 40 minutes.

Lance Galbraith gave Idaho a 3-2 lead with a 5-on-3 power-play goal 14:28 into the third period. Galbraith picked up a pass from Darrell Hay on the right-wing side of the Fresno zone, and wristed a shot past Moreland for his 21st goal of the year.

O'Dette forced overtime with his second power-play goal of the night with 48.6 seconds remaining in regulation. Igor Gongalsky centered the puck to O'Dette at the top of the crease, and he bounced a shot past Silverthorn to tie the score 3.

The Falcons received a power play with 41 seconds left in overtime, but were unable to score, sending the game to the shootout.

In the shootout, Fresno got goals from Prudden in round one and Matt Stefanishion in round four, while Idaho's Lance Galbraith scored the lone goal in the second round.
