
Grizzlies drop one

Gateway Grizzlies News Release
The Gateway Grizzlies and the Rockford RiverHawks were scheduled to play another double-header Friday night in Rockford, IL. What they got was one and part of another.
The Grizzlies dropped game one to the Rockford RiverHawks 7-1. Game two lasted into the fourth inning before heavy rains forced the suspension of the game. The two teams will complete the game beginning at 5:05 then complete the scheduled game following.
The Grizzlies are 42-42. Rockford is 44-40.
Ryan Sullivan had the only RBI in game one. Sullivan hit a lead-off home run in the third inning to put the Grizzlies on the board.
Matt Powell (6-3) took the loss going 4 1/3 innings. He gave up seven runs, five earned on 10 hits.
Rockford starter Derek Roper went the distance allowing just three hits to the Grizzlies.
In the second game the Grizzlies were leading in the 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning. With Mike Breyman on a second, Ben Margalski grounded a ball off of the glove of Rockford second baseman Todd Dulaney. Breyman was able to score to give the Grizzlies the 1-0 lead.
The second game of the double-header will resume in the fourth inning beginning at 5:05 Saturday night. Game two will follow about 30 minutes later. That game will also be just seven innings.
