
Grizzlies Drop Finale At River City

O'FALLON, MO-The River City Rascals came back from a 3-2 deficit, scoring five times in the fifth inning Sunday night, and held on for an 8-5 win in the finale of a four-game series at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.
River City (51-37) scored four runs with two outs in the inning, all coming against Grizzlies starter Nate Melek. Melek didn't last the inning. The right-hander left with two outs in the fifth. He allowed seven runs on six hits. He struck out seven.
The Grizzlies (37-53) took a 3-1 lead Sunday night with a three-run second inning. Charlie Lisk led off the inning with a home run to left. The long ball, his 27th of the year, was his third in as many games. Joe Agreste walked and Breck Draper and Alex Kerins each followed with RBI hits in the inning.
Draper finished the night 3-3 with a pair of RBI doubles, a single and a run scored. Draper finished the series 8-14 (.571) with three doubles, a home run and five RBIs. Kerins finished the night 2-4. Lisk was 1-3 with the homer and a pair of runs scored.
Jonathan Quigley added his first career home run, leading off the seventh inning. He finished 1-3.
The 53 losses is the most for a Gateway Grizzlies team. The 2006 Grizzlies went 42-52.
After an off-day Monday, the Grizzlies begin their final home series of the year Tuesday night at GCS Ballpark. The Rockford RiverHawks come to town Tuesday for a three-game set. First pitch Tuesday night is 7:05 pm.
