
Grizzlies Announce Preseason Schedule

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies, proud affiliate of the New York Islanders, announced today that they will host the Victoria Salmon Kings in a pair of preseason games Friday, October 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Park City Ice Arena and Saturday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Acord Ice Center in West Valley City; which is the Grizzlies practice facility.
Ticket information for both games is available by calling the Grizzlies offices at (801) 988-7825. Tickets will also be sold at the arenas on the night of the games. Proceeds from both games will benefit local youth hockey organizations and Utah Grizzlies Children's Charities.
The Park City Ice Arena is located at 600 Gillmor Way in the Utah resort town. The Acord Ice Center is located at 3100 South 5353 West.
"It is very exciting to have the Grizzlies here to play the first-ever professional hockey game in Park City," said Park City Ice Arena General Manager Stacey Noonan. "We are very happy to have their support of the hockey community in this area."
"These are two state-of-the-art rinks," said Grizzlies Senior Vice President/COO Michael Schetzel. "We are excited for the opportunity to take our preseason games into local neighborhoods around the Wasatch Front; while also helping the youth hockey organizations in the area."
The Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL, enter their third season in America's "Premier AA Hockey League." On May 22, 2007, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie announced an affiliation with the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Former Grizzlies Ric Jackman and Scott Niedermayer recently won the Stanley Cup as members of the Anaheim Ducks. At the start of the 2006-2007 season, 23 former Grizzlies were on NHL rosters. 12 of those former players advanced to the playoffs.
In addition, during the 2006-2007 season, the team made over 120 community appearances, including two all-team hospital visits and over 30 elementary school assemblies; while donating nearly $120,000 in cash, tickets and merchandise to charity.
