Columbia Inferno News Release
(COLUMBIA, S.C.) Sept. 11, 2007- The Columbia Inferno have re-signed defenseman Ren Fauci, head coach and director of hockey operations Troy Mann announced today.
The 25-year-old Fauci played 56 games with the Inferno last season, his first as a professional, logging 12 points (five goals, seven assists) and 64 penalty minutes.
"Ren is a real hard-working guy, who adds good size and depth to our blueline," Mann said. "His right-handed shot from the point is an increasing rarity in hockey, and we really believe he can make that next step from rookie to professional hockey player."
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound native of Randolph, N.J., spent four years at Lake Superior State University before joining the Inferno. From his freshman year in 2002-03 through his senior year of 2005-06, Fauci amassed 30 points (seven goals, 23 assists) and 118 penalty minutes in 133 games with the Lakers.
The Columbia Inferno's regular-season home opener is Friday, Oct. 26 against the Augusta Lynx. Season tickets, group packages and partial ticket plans are available now by calling 803.256.PUCK or by logging on to columbiainferno.com.
