Grizzlies Acquire Terry Virtue from Springfield

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH * Utah Grizzlies General Manager Laurence Gilman announced today that the Grizzlies have acquired on loan defenseman Terry Virtue from the Springfield Falcons and in exchange have loaned defenseman Nikos Tselios to the Falcons.

Virtue, 34, has played in 13 games with Springfield this season scoring a goal and adding an assist with 21 penalty minutes. The veteran blueliner is in his 14th professional season spending most of his time with the Worcester IceCats where he is the franchises? all-time leader in games played (455), points (210), assists (154) and penalty minutes (1,083).

In his career, the Scarborough, Ontario native has played in 944 professional games scoring 96 goals with 372 assists and 2,263 penalty minutes. Virtue was originally a third round selection of the Montreal Canadiens in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-0, 200-pound defenseman has won Calder Cups with Hartford in 2000 and Providence in 1999.

The move is the third in a week for the Grizzlies who acquired center?s Peter White and Jarrod Skalde last week.

Tselios, had played in five games with the Grizzlies scoring a goal and adding an assist. He was a healthy scratch in seven of the last nine games.

Utah will host San Antonio on Tuesday and Wednesday night at the ?E? Center. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 each night.
