April 14, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Tickets for the Grand Rapids Griffins' first two home games during the 2016 Calder Cup Playoffs will go on sale to the public this Saturday, April 16 at 10 a.m.
Grand Rapids' opponent and dates for the best-of-five Central Division Semifinals will be announced no later than Saturday night, when the Griffins complete their 20th regular season by hosting the Bakersfield Condors for the first time ever. Game time is 7 p.m.
Currently sitting in third place in the Central Division, the Griffins could finish anywhere from second to fourth and face any of three opponents - the Lake Erie Monsters, Milwaukee Admirals or Rockford IceHogs - in the opening round. Milwaukee (101 points) has already clinched the division title, while Lake Erie (93), Grand Rapids (90) and Rockford (90) are separated by only three points with a pair of games remaining for each team and the Griffins owning the tiebreaker over both rivals.
Grand Rapids will travel to Rockford on Friday for a crucial clash with the IceHogs at 8 p.m. EDT. A Griffins win in regulation would guarantee a division semifinal series between Grand Rapids and Lake Erie.
Single-game playoff tickets will be available at all Star Tickets locations, including The Zone, online through griffinshockey.com, by phone through Star Tickets at (800) 585-3737, or via the Griffins app for iPhone or Android.
Available for all playoff home games, Playoff 4-Packs include four or more tickets at a savings of $3 per ticket plus no service fees. To purchase a Playoff 4-Pack, visit griffinshockey.com/playoffs or call (616) 774-4585 ext. 2.
Fans who want to experience every Griffins game at Van Andel Arena during the 2016 Calder Cup Playoffs can now purchase a Griffins Playoff Pass. Enjoy the same great seat at significant savings plus the convenience of the "pay-as-we-play" method of payment. To reserve your Griffins Playoff Pass, please call (616) 774-4585 ext. 2.
Continuing a postseason tradition, the Griffins are extending their popular Friday promotion and will offer $2 beers and $2 hot dogs for all home playoff games for two hours after the doors open, while supplies last. In addition, 2,500 fans will receive Griffins playoff rally towels during the first round, compliments of Auto Value Parts Stores.
