SAN JOSE, Calif. (May 25, 2005) – After another stellar season that saw him set a league record for passing yards and numerous team records, San Jose QB MARK GRIEB was today named to the Arena Football League's All-Arena First Team and was the only SaberCat to be named to the first or second team this year.

During the 2005 campaign, Grieb (6-3, 208, U.C. DAVIS) broke Jim Kubiak's 2003 single-season passing record (4,762) by throwing for 4,803 yards in 16 games, leading San Jose (9-7) to their sixth consecutive playoff appearance and sixth straight winning season.

The 7-year AFL veteran finished the season leading the league in six passing categories, including passer rating (122.0), completion percentage (68.6%), passing yards (4,803) and total offense (4,823).

Grieb also shattered a number of SaberCats team records, establishing a new franchise high for touchdown passes in a season (84), passing yards (4,803), passing attempts (547) and pass completions (375).

This is the third All-AFL selection for Grieb during his career. He was a first team pick in 2002, when he also captured Offensive Player of the Year honors, and was a second team choice last season.

The Western Division champion Los Angeles Avengers led all teams with three first-team selections: OL/DL Silas Demary, WR/DB Kevin Ingram and K Remy Hamilton while the Southern Division champion Georgia Force led all teams with four selections to the 2005 All-Arena First and Second Teams.
